Welcome Josiah Matthew Connor

Yesterday at about 6:30 Josiah was born into water at Mom and Mark's home here in Oregon City. Chelsea was such a champ about it all and she had the baby only about and hour and a half after her water broke. She continues to amaze me. Josiah weighed almost 9 pounds after two large helpings of milk so I'm not sure how much he weighed when he was born. He's just a few inches short of two feet. We got about 5 hours of sleep last night.

Josiah had perfect timing because Mom and Mark left to fly to Pennsylvania only about half an hour after they got to see him. Also Mom and Dad Nelson showed up right when Chelsea was ready to see other people so all four grandparents got to meet Josiah at pretty much the same time. It was a thousand times more relaxing than Indeah's crazy birth and just what Chelsea and I wanted. Just a few hours before Josiah was born when Chelsea's contractions weren't super strong yet and about 4 minutes apart we were just walking around in the beautiful Oregon countryside near the house and thanking God that we weren't in a scary hospital or on an island off the coast of Sumatra.

Chelsea and Josiah are both doing great and they thank you all for your many prayers and love. We'll probably post a legion of baby pictures on our picasa page soon. Until then you can enjoy these. I obviously don't know how to do pictures on this blog thing. If anyone has any tips let me know.
